Worked on the plan some more and took a lot of really good ideas from people and thought things through a bit more and came up with a new plan, based largly on the concepts of the previous plan. The big change was to move the playroom downstairs and the master bedroom upstairs.
Here I go again with yet another plan. I think this is the one...maybe, good possibility, we'll see. My problem is that it is too easy for me to draw whatever I want and make changes at will. I have too much information and too many ideas and I just keep working at it again and again.
The last plan just didn't have the style I wanted and didn't take advantage of the site. Just too plain and boring. The plan is way more complicated and interesting (and of course more costly to build. I am thinking of a farmhouse style. I haven't worked out all of the details, but want to mill this layout over for a while before I really get to drawing everything in detail. It all pretty much works, I just need to tweak it a bit.
Here are the elevations. I am going for a craftsman sort of look. I am likely going to have lap siding with asphalt shingles. I would like to have stone veneer below the water table line. Natural wood look on the timber frame entrance.
It doesn't seem like it has been that long, but I guess with Holidays and such, more happens than you realize. Well, I scratched the tower idea (fear of cost and taking up too much space). The attached images are the latest sketches. Obviously I have gone a lot further than my last post and am starting to get into the specifics of the plan. I am starting to worry that this house may be too big; it is over 3000 sf of living space. I was aiming for more like 2500. I better start thinking of ways to downsize and areas to cut.
